Jer 29:13 And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart.
14 And I will be found of you, saith the Lord
As has been stated in the past post on this blog and is self evident I had neglected to write here for the space of almost a year. However it has been on my heart to recommit to posting and writing. It is my hope and desire to begin to write and post at least once a week going forward, God willing. And with that in mind, I had been wondering and waiting to see what God would lead me to write about this week.
All week I was going back and forth as to what to write. I would study and read but nothing really seemed to strike home, nothing really seemed to be getting the Spirit stirred up inside of me. The farther in the week that it got the more I was wondering if I would ever have something really impressed upon me.
Right now I am doing Doordash for income, and it has been a blessing to be able to do, and with the massive amount of extra time I have just driving around, I have been taking that opportunity to start to listen to the Bible. Around Thursday I found myself driving, listening to the Bible and contemplating what my Post should be about. I was listening to Acts, about the start of the Church as we know it, when something jumped out at me and has been stirring on my heart since. Something that I think I needed to reflect on and something I feel may benefit others, and that is what I want to share with you today.
In this past year I think everyone from every place from all walks of life have found themselves in the same boat. I don't think there has been one person that hasnt been affected by the events that have unfolded in the past year. Whether that is due to Covid, the Political Landscape, the reaction to Covid upon us as students, teachers, businesses or every day citizens. From individual trials to world tribulations, I believe we all can relate and share in the fact that the past year has been one of unforeseen events that put us all in the same boat of unsurety of what the future is going to hold in our day to day lives.
Not only has these events put us in the same boat of unsurety I believe it has also put us all in the same boat of wondering what is the purpose and meaning behind it all. Why is this all happening, why are we all experiencing these things, and what do we call out to, how do we find reason and meaning in a world of chaos and unknowing.
In Ecclesiastes 7:2 it says It is better to go to the house of mourning, than to go to the house of feasting: for that is the end of all men; and the living will lay it to his heart. I have contemplated the meaning of this verse many times and from what I can understand in my limited ability to comprehend Gods Word is that in adversity, hardship, and loss there is a benefit to us, because it will cause us to look for a deeper meaning. It will cause us to look for something we hadn't paid attention to in the past. Something we overlooked or took for granted. And when we turn to look and if we find then those things make a greater impact upon us, they are etched into our hearts forever.
As I was listening in Acts doing my deliveries, all this was put onto my heart and was swimming around my mind. I’ve been contemplating how to deliver this message and as I have taken the time to organize my thoughts, praying and asking the Lord to help me relay these things, I have seen that this idea, that affects all people can be put into two camps. So the first part of this message is directed towards those who may not know Jesus as their personal Lord and Savior.
See I truly believe that for the vast amount of those who do not know Christ as their personal Lord and Savior they are also split into two camps, both being affected by the world circumstances of this past year but with two different responses. The first are those who have a form of worship, they have some idea or semblance of who God is. Some have Religious activities that they are performing, some are even more devout in those activities than Christians may be. When I dwell on this I can see the billions of people who have some Religious Practice that are wondering and crying out to whom they believe in asking for answers, yet have not been satisfied with any true response. I can see the billions of Muslims, Hindus, Jehovah Witnesses, Catholics, Mormons, insert said Religion here, all wondering, crying out, performing Religious Activities to God as they may understand Him, yet in the end they still have some unfulfilled craving, some unmet need, that their Religious Activities never satisfy.
Not only do I see them but I see the so called “Spiritual” people, the people who have some form of “superstition” who also are trying to understand the meaning of what they are facing and enduring. As well as those to try to profess they have no belief, yet they too are in the same boat we all are in, trying to make sense of what they are seeing and experiencing but not having the wherewithal in where to reach out or cry out to. They all are trying in their own ways to reach the same end and same goal. And what I am here to tell you today is that there IS someone who IS listening and that someone HAS a purpose and reason.
It was in Acts 10 that I was listening when this was first laid on my heart, and in that chapter we meet a man, a Gentile named Cornelius. The fact that he was a Gentile is of great importance, what it means is that he wasn't of the people of God. He wasn't a Jew and therefore he didn't truly know God as God had revealed Himself to His people in Israel. However even tho Cornelius was a Gentile the Bible says this of him:
A devout man, and one that feared God with all his house, which gave much alms to the people, and prayed to God alway.
Here we have a picture of a man that wasn't “of Gods people” but had some form of who God was, and he practiced Religious activity towards his God. This man set his face towards acknowledging God, praying to Him and devotion in Service to Him. How many people does this represent in this world today? Like I said I believe this man is a picture of billions of people today, people who acknowledge God, who pray to God, who devote themselves to Religious activities, however in what they are doing they are not fulfilled.
The Bible tells us of this man that all he did before God was acknowledged of God, an Angel comes to him with a message:
And he said unto him, Thy prayers and thine alms are come up for a memorial before God.
I looked up the word memorial in the Greek and this is what it means:
have become known to God, so that he heeds and is about to help thee
So we see that this man was making and doing these things in devotion to God, and when he was crying out, worshipping and had a heart towards God in the best manner as he could, it got Gods attention and so then God acknowledging this sent to him help. What kind of help you may ask?
As we read on in the Scriptures the Angel tells him to go down to meet Peter, he tells him exactly where to go. While this Angel is dealing with Cornelius, God is also dealing with Peter preparing him to be of help to Cornelius. I am not going to go into detail about those things, I recommend reading the whole chapter and studying it all out, but the point as it relates to the message is that God sent this man to Peter and God also was preparing Peter to be able to help this man.
So what exactly was it that God sent this man to Peter for, and what did God give to Peter to help this man?
Acts 10:34 Then Peter opened his mouth, and said, Of a truth I perceive that God is no respecter of persons:
35 But in every nation he that feareth him, and worketh righteousness, is accepted with him.
36 The word which God sent unto the children of Israel, preaching peace by Jesus Christ: (he is Lord of all:)
37 That word, I say, ye know, which was published throughout all Judaea, and began from Galilee, after the baptism which John preached;
38 How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power: who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him.
39 And we are witnesses of all things which he did both in the land of the Jews, and in Jerusalem; whom they slew and hanged on a tree:
40 Him God raised up the third day, and shewed him openly;
41 Not to all the people, but unto witnesses chosen before God, even to us, who did eat and drink with him after he rose from the dead.
42 And he commanded us to preach unto the people, and to testify that it is he which was ordained of God to be the Judge of quick and dead.
43 To him give all the prophets witness, that through his name whosoever believeth in him shall receive remission of sins.
God heard and saw Cornelius’ prayers and devotion and he sent him to Peter, and when he got to Peter, Peter knew exactly what Cornelius needed, exactly why Cornelius was sent unto him. He was sent to Peter to have the Gospel preached to him. Cornelius was worshipping God in the best manner he knew how, but he was unfulfilled, he didn't fully know or understand nor have that personal relationship with God. God however knew that Cornelius desired to have that relationship and sent him right to the man that would tell him exactly how to be fulfilled, how to be satisfied, and how to enter into that Personal Relationship with God Himself.
I believe that this is exactly what is happening, exactly what is needed right now. There are throngs of people who are seeking after God, seeking in the best ways they know how, that are desperate to truly know and have a relationship with Him, but they haven't been fulfilled in the ways they have understood so far in life.
If this is you, then I am here to declare to you that God has heard your prayers, God has seen your devotions and God IS sending you help. God WANTS you to know Him personally and the way to do that is thru His Son Jesus Christ as Peter preached unto Cornelius, so I too preach Him to you now. God has sent you to read this and is showing you the answers to your questions, there is a purpose for what you have been going thru and it is for you to come to know Christ as your Personal Lord and Savior TODAY!!!
That is the first camp that I mentioned earlier, those who are seeking God but don't have that Personal Relationship with Him. God sees and hears your prayers and petitions, He is sending you this message and will be sending people into your life to declare to you the answer which is the Gospel of Jesus Christ!!!
The second camp is those who already believe and know Jesus as their Lord and Savior. Even tho we know Him we all would be lying if we didn't admit that this year has also caused us to cry out, to wonder, to desire answers as to why this is happening. And I am here to declare to you that God still hears our cries, and still has a reason and is offering us answers.
As I listened, read and studied this chapter in Acts I see God moving in two peoples lives at the same time to fulfill a purpose in both of their lives. While I didn't get into it, Cornelius coming to Peter was just as impactful on him as Peter was to Cornelius. I have contemplated this as a Saved person, and God has laid on my heart this Truth. God is using these circumstances to prepare us to either be sent or to receive the people who are on Gods heart.
And in this I also see that God has got it all under control, in these Scriptures He is working on two separate men, from two completely different cultures and walks of life, in two completely different ways but once they came together then both of them saw the Glory of God and the Power of God and worshiped Him because of it.
As Saved people let us keep in mind that in the midst of our hardships and trials and tribulations that God is molding us, preparing us to either be sent or to receive those in need which will not only benefit us but give God the Glory in the end. If we keep this in mind then we can begin to see these hard times a bit different and maybe even begin to get excited for what it is the Lord is going to accomplish once we are prepared in the manner He would have us to be!!!
There is a promise of God that I declare to you today, Lost and Saved alike, if we seek Him God has sworn, I will be found of you!!!
I love you all, have a great day and blessed day in the Lord!
